Karjalanpiirakka Challenge Description and Prizes

A karjalanpiirakka is a traditional Finnish food served with breakfast and also at other times of the day. There is lots of rice, butter, and more, wrapped inside a rye bread dough, baked in the oven. Oddly enough, the pasty gets covered with and egg and butter mixture. This whole team food challenge meant for two people to share weighs around 11lbs or 5kg, which includes a supersized Karelian Rice Pasty plus a mixture with 800 grams (1.76 lbs) of butter and 17 whole eggs served in a bowl on the side. You can distribute the egg butter mixture as you wish, but it all must be finished too within the 1 hour time limit. Winners still pay €70 for the meal, but get sweet t-shirts and a spot on Puoti & Sumppila’s Wall of Fame. If you beat the current time record for the challenge, you also get your whole meal free!! Note: Please contact the restaurant in advance to schedule your challenge if interested, since they will have to prepare it for you ahead of time.
